Life Story Poem
Life, they told her, was a game
one only won by the wise,
and so she thought it was a shame,
that no one made it out alive.
Young she was and thus, believed,
a difference someday she would make,
every chance, she knew she’d seize,
and never would she make mistakes.
She thought she could win
in fact, she was sure,
because she was just a kid
whose only weapon was hope.
Years later, she realized
how naive she really was,
herself, she criticized,
and hence, the game she lost.
By every soul, then she was mocked,
but little did they know
it wasn't just the game she lost;
she also lost hope.
Life, they told her was a journey
one with an abrupt end,
Young she was and also lonely,
so she soon, made a friend.
She wrote to find her lost hope,
she wrote her soul on paper,
her friend to no one, she would show,
her secret words made her feel braver.
Her hope was never seen again,
this weapon of hers was gone for good,
But her words were her new weapon,
and she loved them more than she should.
Years later, she realized
her friend asked too much of her,
herself, she criticized
and then, she stopped writing words.
By her words, she was taught
nothing stays till the end
it wasn't just hope she lost;
she also lost a friend.
Life, they told her was a test
one that can not be prepared for
but this time, she ignored them lest
she faced more losses that can’t be restored.
She had no hope, nor a friend
but she didn't seem bothered.
Herself, this time, she wouldn't contend,
at first, it sounded absurd.
She wondered what all this time,
she had been doing wrong,
She tried to read between the lines
of where they said she belonged.
Years later, she realized,
it wasn't her life she was living
herself, she criticized
for not knowing where she had been.
In a lie, herself she caught,
and now believed life was a test
it wasn't just a friend she lost;
she also lost herself...!!!
